Modified Johannesburg

This biological reactor configuration is especially appropriate for lowering high amounts of nitrogen. It uses biological means through the consumption of endogenous carbon produced in the second facultative cell fed by exernally recirculated sludge working anoxically. This process is being used in the Palma 2 treatment plant recently built by DRACE and is giving the high production rates demanded in the elimination of nitrogen.
