STORM TANK IN ARROYOFRESNO

DRACE medioambiente is building what will probably be the largest storm tank in the world, with a capacity of 400,000 m3. It is located in Madrid on the grounds of the Club de Campo Sports Club. This job, referred to as “Pharaonic” by the Madrid City Government, will store excess run-off water during the rainy season for later treatment.

It is 290 meters long, 140 meters wide and 22 meters deep. There will be a covered garage above it topped by a new golf practice field exactly where the old one was. The contract also includes a 3 kilometer long pipe with a 6.70 meter diameter (the same as the Madrid subway), that will be built using a tunnel boring machine. It will cross under the Manzanares River and the M-30 ring road with very little space above it.
