FIRST WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT WITH RECYCLING
At this time the Ministry of the Environment is developing a Plan to Recycle Treated Wastewater. The reuse of water opens a new direction of evolution where treated wastewater is considered as a new resource that will supply water for many applications during a dry spell like we are currently undergoing. DRACE medioambiente is a pioneer in the world of reusing water. In 1985 we built in Villalba, Madrid, the first municipal wastewater treatment plant with a tertiary stage consisting of submerged sand filters for the water company Canal Isabel II. The purpose was to obtain a high quality effluent to be dumped downstream from the Valmayor Reservoir that supplies drinking water to Madrid capital city.
