At the Viveros de la Villa de Madrid wastewater treatment plant, we installed a sand filter tertiary process designed by DRACE medioambiente using the revolutionary travelling bridge system. This process makes it possible to treat 2.2 m³/s giving a flow with less than 5 ppm of suspended solids and BOD5.

Unlike other filters, it is not necessary to stop this one during the sand washing process thanks to its travelling system and the compartmentalization. Furthermore, the low load loss makes this process highly appropriate for enlarging wastewater treatment plants that require a tertiary treatment so that the treated water can be reused since in most cases it is not necessary to do any pumping.
