THE FIRST DESALINATION PLANT WITH A MEMBRANE RACK AND CAPACITY OF 7,000 M3/DAY

The evolution of the desalination process has been constant over the past few years, especially in reverse osmosis. DRACE medioambiente recently installed a desalination plant, with latest generation low pressure membranes, giving a higher conversion of salt water or a lower consumption of energy for the same amount of water produced in comparison with traditional plants. At the desalination plant in Bocabarranco in the Canary Islands, DRACE medioambiente became the first Spanish company to install a reverse osmosis membrane rack for seawater with a capacity of 7,000 m3/day – a real milestone at that moment.

The initial project consisted of two lines of 3,500 m3/day but we presented a solution that consumed less power and reduced maintenance costs by using a module with twice the capacity of what the osmosis technology was able to reach at the time.
