This plant treats the wastewater from the As Pontes mining complex before it is dumped into the Eume River. It has a capacity of 15 m³/s, which is three times greater than the largest urban wastewater treatment plant in Spain, with peak rates of 30 m³/s. The suspended solids content can reach 630 Ton/hour. As a result of these figures, this plant holds the world record.
